The minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure provision of quality healthcare services to the poor.
The meeting was further informed that 82,660 patients were provided treatment in OPD ward, while 24,816 and 75,812 patients were provided treatment in dental and eye wards, respectively, at Data Darbar Hospital.
The meeting was further informed that apart from Data Darbar Hospital, Auqaf Department also runs 9 dispensaries in Lahore and one each in Pakpattan, Multan, Sialkot, Liaquatpur and Sargodha.
It may be mentioned that Data Darbar Hospital, working in two shifts, is extending eye care, dental and gynecological services to the poor people.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, while talking to a 12-member delegation of the Hindu community, which led by secretary-general Pakistan Balmik Sabha, Dr. Munawar Chand, called on him here on Saturday, said the government is providing special funds for the restoration of worship places of the non-Muslim community. In this regard, he said that an amount of Rs 1.2 million has been approved to renovate the Krishna Mandir of the Balmik Hindus at Ravi Road, Lahore.
'The religious places of the non-Muslims are being renovated under a phased programme', he said. He further said that an amount of Rs 15 million has been allocated to construct a state-of-the-art 'Langar Khana' at Gurudawara Punja Sahib of the Sikh community at Hassan Abdal. Another amount of Rs 5 million would be utilised for marble flooring of the Gurdawara, he added.
The minister stated that policies of General Pervez Musharraf based on the principles of enlightened moderation and tolerance are in favour of the country. He advised the Hindu community to work hard for the betterment of the country. He said that Islam stands for tranquility and love for humanity, which always gave sense of protection to the non-Muslim community.
On the occasion, the delegation members assured all out support to the government and said that their Pakistani identity is very dear to them.
